Absent: Sepang F1 Race 2009

Jenson Button won the 2009 Sepang F1 Race! Good for him! A torrential thunderstorm halted the race at its 32nd lap and Button was in the first spot for the 31st lap. So he won the race.

I waited anxiously in front of the TV - practically on the edge of my seat - for nearly an hour for the race to restart but that never happened. Unlike previous years where we got to watch the race live in Sepang, this year we didn’t go. The girls didn’t request for it either. I think they didn’t even know the race was back. Dear Hubby wasn’t keen this time... he was out with the girls for their swimming lessons. So it was just me getting the adrenaline rush watching the race on TV. And wishing that I was there – right infront of the pitstop like the usual. Sob.. sob...

This is the nearest I got to Button - on TV that is. How pathetic is that?

Come to think of it, I think I should be thankful. No more sunburn and sweaty necks. No more parting with the money for the tickets and the t-shirts/shirts/caps/food/drinks etc. Now I could buy myself a new Tag watch or get myself the Coach handbag I saw last week on the net.

Sour Grapes!

In reality, I actually missed being there. Listening to the sound bites of roaring F1 race cars, the screeching tires and the ever-so-excited crowds! The excitement just wasn’t the same watching them on TV.

Oh well, look on the brighter side. At least I got to watch Confessions of a Shopaholic on Friday night. Loved it. The girls loved it too. Dear Hubby got himself a ticket to Fast and Furious4. And before you start asking – no, I didn’t finish the books as mentioned in my previous entry. Couldn’t find the time. Or maybe I didn’t read fast enough. At the moment, I’m still at page 215 of the first book. So much of an optimist!

What gives?

Maybe I should join the speed-reading course. I read it somewhere that there is such a course here in Malaysia. Maybe they give out free tickets to F1 2010 race if I were to enroll??

Dear DDI

I gave up my F1 tickets this year. Have to do it for the sake of Aliah.

Managed to catch the race on TV. Yes, I was waiting for the restart too. It was pretty interesting to see the race in a sudden rain. Something different. I won a bet because it rained. Lost it last year.

Congrats to BMW Sauber too.

Tak sangka you kaki F1. For me, I'm not being infected yet. It should be fun! Year after year it's only my hubby. Anyway I have to see the Shopalic ! Hopefully this weekend.

There's a speed reading course? LOL.
I never knew they could teach that too??

I have a self-help book on speed reading.
Not bad .

Dear TM,
Next year insyaallah boleh pergi. Cumanya hopefully no thunderstorm lah. Sayang, dahla tiket mahal, dapat tengok sejam saja.

I can't remember which year, but when it rained, half of the circuit yg hujan, and the other half tak. The spectators went wild - maklumlah ramai mat salleh yg 'perak' tak pernah tengok hujan mcm tu. LOL

Dear Clarisse,
I went thru this article on speed-reading during my student years. It was something about scanning the whole paragraph and pick up the words (Or something like that). It worked when I tried that a few weeks. But then I got back to my old habit of reading word by word. Old habits die hard!

Hi Kak Ja,

good thing that I have no sons & none of my girls are into this F1 thingy. HB too... Jimat duit & selamat telinga. Hahaha!

As 'Mum & Roses' said; "tak sangka U ni kaki F1". Not my cup of tea lah...

I'm trying to finish reading my Confessions of a Shopaholic too. Dah lama beli, tapi tak baca. Usually, I can finish a good book sekejap aje. But, somehow there's something about this book which makes it fall under the 'not so good book' category. I wonder why....

Dear U.Lee,
1 more year for you to see the Sepang race.

Funny that things like that happened to me quite often. For eg: I have no important meeting to attend the whole week, finally tomorrow I got 2 important ones. And I'll be on leave tomorrow to see my MIL in the hospital. Why not other days?

Ja dear,
Better don't start watching it live... nanti tersangkut mcm I!

Right - jimat duit!

Dear Mamamia,
First of all, TQVM for the reminder thru Min. I didn't subscribe to that channel. Was it good?

Reg the Shopaholic book - I had the same feeling at first. I meluat dgn Becky ni sebab suka sangat bohong/make up stories. Tapi last2 tu I began to like her. Luckily I saw the movie first before finishing up the book. It might have influenced me, I guess.
